How to licence Easy Access IP

To apply for an Easy Access IP licence, companies must tell us, in no more than two A4 pages:

  • how they intend to commercialise the technology
  • who will be involved in the development and exploitation of the technology, and what their roles will be
  • the timescale for commercialisation
  • anticipated future engagements with the university involved
  • the anticipated benefits to society and the economy.

The only conditions we set when granting an Easy Access IP licence are that:

  • companies must acknowledge the university’s contribution to the development of the technology, and report to the university on progress
  • if a company has not exploited the IP within three years of an agreement being signed, the IP will be transferred back to the university
  • there will be no limitations on the university’s use of the IP for its own research.

It’s as simple as that. Our quick and simple suite of agreements are available to download.
